When desktop icon is used for starting a server, default JAVA set for particular machine is used for a start. This cause many exceptions during the start, when other than JDK 1.6 is used on that machine. I observed this problem on lab machines, where JDK 1.5 is set as default JDK. I switched to JDK 1.6 and installed server without any problems, but when I tried to start server throught desktop icon, the default JDK (1.5) was used for a start and there were problems with starting a server.
This is maybe more OS or JDK settings problem and also I know that in Installation guide there is a requirement for using JDK 1.6.
