Enterprise console - need to document "get current values" button in UI - how to force a collection - and differences with legacy ESB mgmt console

    Details

    • Affects:
Documentation (Ref Guide, User Guide, etc.), Release Notes

      Description

In the "metrics data" display of the enterprise console, the "get current values" button does collect the current statistics on the config elements being queried. The button only performs a screen refresh.

This is a known issue: http://jira.rhq-project.org/browse/RHQ-754

But it may cause confusion for SOA-P users as:

      • It's in contrast to the legacy ESB management console's "Press the button to manually Collect Statistics" feature.
      • And - the only way for a user to force a collection of statistics in the enterprise console is to set the collection interval to a very low value (e.g., 30 seconds) and then wait for the interval to expire. After the user views these statistics, he should reset the collection interval to not affect system/agent performance.

We'll need to document this for SOA 4.3 - and press to have the underlying issue resolved.
